Not everyone looking for professional driving tuition needs to start from the beginning.
You may have learned to drive with family or friends. You may already be driving regularly in your own car. Perhaps your practical test is booked and you simply want an experienced driving instructor to assess your driving and help you prepare properly.
That’s exactly what my TEST READY service is for.
I’m Gordon from Gordon’s Motoring School, and I’ve been providing driving tuition in Ludlow for over 15 years.
Being able to drive isn’t quite the same as being test-ready
You may be perfectly capable of driving safely from A to B, but during a practical driving test the examiner is assessing much more than whether you can control the car.
They need to see that you can drive safely and independently while consistently:
- observing what is happening around you
- using mirrors effectively
- checking blind spots when required
- planning and anticipating ahead
- approaching junctions and roundabouts appropriately
- making safe decisions
- responding correctly to other road users
- demonstrating good judgement and awareness
Sometimes relatively small habits can make the difference between a good everyday drive and the standard expected during a practical driving test.
That’s where an experienced instructor can help.

TEST READY sessions are provided in your own car, whether manual or automatic.
This means you can prepare in a vehicle you already know and, if appropriate, intend to use for your practical test.
Because your vehicle will not have instructor dual controls, you must already be able to drive independently to a reasonable and safe standard.
TEST READY is therefore not suitable for complete beginners or somebody who still requires significant assistance with basic vehicle control.

- want an independent assessment of your current standard
